Custom and bespoke software development

We design and build software around how your business actually works: portals, internal tools, CRM, finance systems and the integrations between them. You own the roadmap and the data model, a written proposal sets the price before we start, and a first version starts from £1,999.

Custom software we build

Bespoke software is written for one business and its way of working, rather than bought as a licence and bent to fit. These are the kinds we are asked for most.

Customer and partner portals
Logins where customers, suppliers or partners see their orders, documents and invoices and do the routine work themselves.
Internal tools and dashboards
The screens staff use all day: records, approvals, rotas, stock and the reports that replace the weekly spreadsheet.
CRM and sales systems
A pipeline and customer record that match how you sell, rather than how a CRM vendor thinks you should.
ERP and operations
One system across departments and branches. Laksiri, a cargo company in more than 108 countries, runs on one we built.
Finance and billing systems
Quotes, invoicing, payments, reconciliation and exports for the accountant, connected to Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
Modernising legacy systems
An old Access database, a PHP 5 application or a tangle of spreadsheets, rebuilt in slices so the business keeps running.

Build or buy? An honest comparison

Off-the-shelf software is often the right answer. Bespoke pays off when your process is the advantage, or when licence fees and workarounds start to cost more than owning the system.

  • Bespoke software

    Fit
Built around your process, roles and rules.
    Upfront cost
From £1,999 for a first version.
    Ongoing cost
Hosting and an optional support plan. No per-seat fees.
    Time to start
A first version in 4 to 5 weeks.
    Integrations
Whatever your systems expose, built to your rules.
    Control
Your roadmap, your data model, code in your repository.
  • Off-the-shelf

    Fit
You adapt your process to the product.
    Upfront cost
    Low. Usually a monthly subscription.
    Ongoing cost
Per-user fees that grow with the team.
    Time to start
    Days, if it fits.
    Integrations
The connectors the vendor chose to build.
    Control
The vendor decides what changes and when.

Many businesses end up with both: off-the-shelf tools for accounts and email, and a bespoke system for the work that makes them different, connected through APIs.

“Before working with Boolet, our internal processes were slow and fragmented. Their custom software streamlined everything into one platform, saving us hours each week. Boolet exceeded our expectations, the team was highly professional throughout the project.”

What bespoke software costs in the UK

Builds are priced on your requirements, so these are starting points. We wrote a longer guide on what moves the price.

MVP buildOne core workflow, accounts and an admin dashboard. Usually 4 to 5 weeks.
From £1,999
Product buildUnlimited user roles, an API and up to three integrations. 10 to 12 weeks.
From £4,999
Enterprise buildMulti-tenant accounts, with an architecture and security review. Quoted after a call.
From £9,599
Growth supportSix hours a month for fixes and small features, with a reply the next working day.
£249/mo

After the first call you get a written proposal with your price and timeline. The price moves up or down with the size and complexity of the requirements. One-off tasks can also be quoted in hours, at £49 an hour, without a monthly plan.

How we build bespoke software

Four steps, each with a price or a date attached.

  1. A free call

    30 minutes

You describe the problem. We say whether it needs custom software at all, and roughly which price band it falls into.

  2. Written proposal

    No charge

What is in, what is out, the price and the timeline, written down and agreed before the build starts.

  3. Build in weekly releases

    4 to 12 weeks

A working version to click through every week, and you speak to the developers directly. An MVP usually takes 4 to 5 weeks, a Product build 10 to 12.

  4. Launch and stay on

    Monthly

We handle the launch and fix what real use turns up. A support plan or a dedicated developer covers what comes next.

Technologies we build with

Mainstream tools, so you can hire for them later without us.

Laravel and PHP
Our default for business systems: queues, permissions, mail and testing in one well-documented framework.
React and Next.js
Fast, interactive interfaces, and server-rendered pages where search visibility matters.
Node.js
APIs and real-time features where one language across front and back end helps.
MySQL, PostgreSQL and Redis
Standard databases chosen for the shape of your data, with Redis for queues and caching.
Flutter
Mobile apps for staff and customers from one codebase.
AWS
Hosting in UK or EU regions with backups and monitoring.

When off-the-shelf is the better buy

We would rather tell you on the first call than build something you did not need.

Buy a product when

  • A well-known product already does 90% of what you need.
  • The process is standard: payroll, accounts, email marketing.
  • You have fewer than a handful of users and no integrations.

Build when

  • Your process is how you win work, and a product would flatten it.
  • Staff spend hours a week copying data between tools.
  • Per-seat fees and add-ons cost more each year than owning the system.
  • Customers or partners need their own login to your data.

Working with us from anywhere in the UK

Most bespoke projects run remotely: a weekly call, a shared board and a working build to click through. The person who knows the process best shows us on a shared screen how the work is done today. If seeing it in person helps, we can visit, particularly in London. We work the same way with clients UK-wide and worldwide.

What is bespoke software development?
Designing and building software for one business, around its own processes, instead of licensing a product built for everyone. You own the roadmap, and the code lives in your repository.
How much does bespoke software cost in the UK?
A first version starts from £1,999, a Product build from £4,999 and larger platforms from £9,599. You get a written proposal with the exact price after the first call.
How long does it take?
An MVP usually takes 4 to 5 weeks and a Product build 10 to 12. Larger systems are released in stages so people start using parts of it early.
Do you offer fixed prices?
Yes. The written proposal fixes what is in scope, the price and the timeline. If you want to add something during the build, we price that change before doing it.
Can it connect to the software we already use?
Usually. If a system has an API, webhooks or a dependable export, we can connect to it. We check the documentation while writing the proposal.
What happens after launch?
A monthly support plan from £129 covers updates, backups and small changes. Bigger additions become their own build on the same codebase.
